Oak Hill Marina teams up with Wishes and More to grant “Lauren’s Wish”
Oak Hill Marina along with Dave Reed and Molly Dandelet of Wishes & More made summer a little more exciting for Lauren Ellwein and her family, of Sioux Falls, SD. Lauren has been fighting Ewing sarcoma, a type of bone cancer, for 1 year and has undergone 6 weeks of radiation and 10 months of chemotherapy. Lauren loves to water ski and tube and her number one wish was for her family to have a boat. Partnering up with Wishes & More, an organization that enhances the life of a child fighting a terminal or life-threatening condition by providing extraordinary experiences, Oak Hill Marina made Laurens wish come true.
Lauren was given an entire boat package to enjoy the hot days of summer. US Marine and Maxum provided t-shirts, Lorenz and Jones threw in a tube, and Oak Hill Marina provided a bag of personal flotation devices, a gift bag, and of course the 2007 Maxum 1800 SR3, tag named “Lauren’s Wish.” Dave Reed and Molly Dandelet from Wishes and More were on the spot to make Lauren’s dream come true.
After Lauren received the boat, Captain Ron Baack, of Oak Hill Marina gave her and her family an on-the-water demonstration to ensure they knew how to operate the boat. Currently, all of Laurens scans are clear and she is in remission. Oak Hill Marina was proud to be a part of Lauren’s wish.
